The Arch of Swords

After the happy couple says their vows and seals them with a kiss, they take part in an old military tradition called the arch of swords. This tradition has a similar meaning to breaking a glass or tying a knot. During the arch of swords, the couple marches back down the aisle under an arch of swords presented and held high to the sky above the newlywed couple.

Insignia and Colors

For a little extra flair, you could create your wedding theme based on your service branch’s colors and insignia. Themed weddings make for a truly memorable experience.

The groomsmen can also play along and wear suits in colors that coordinate with the groom’s dress uniform. You can also get crafty with this idea. Going to the Chapel

Every service member can wed at the chapel on base where they are stationed, as long as they aren’t operational or on deployment. The only downside to this is that you’ll have to be put on a waiting list with all the previous enlisted personnel that came before you.

Cutting the Cake

Another lesser-known military tradition involves cutting the wedding cake. When done according to military traditions, the cake is cut down in the center with a sword. This wonderful tradition is not something you’ll see at just any wedding.
